Greetings and Blessings to You Internet Friend,
I am Pastor Chuck Maney, serving the Spring Valley
United Church of Christ since August of 2003. Our happy growing church in the Valley might be a place where you feel like you belong.
Our congregation has more diversity than it may appear on the surface. In a town of 5,000 with three large catholic churches and a catholic hospital, we sometimes feel like the mainline protestant alternative. In fact, we have good relationships with the Christians of all kinds in this community. Our call seems to be serving families and individuals who do not quite fit in other places.
Many of the children in our congregation are from homes of divorced parents. In a lot of cases this means the kids are only in town every other weekend at best. We emphatically work to love them whenever we have them present.
Many of the folks in the congregation have suffered significant emotional and physical losses in their lives. We come to God with the gifts and abilities God grants us, focusing on our hope in the promises of God. We try to represent God's love to the community and the world the best way we can with whatever abilities God grants us.
Our sanctuary might be our most treasured resource. While we are not crammed together too close, the space is intimate enough to make even the first time visitor feel connected and "in touch." We work at making our personal welcome equal or exceed the welcome of the architecture.
Please feel free to contact us if you would like some help in hearing the voice of God in your life. We would love to hear from you. We would love to have you visit and evaluate our welcome for yourself.
May God bless you and keep you until we meet again.
